Learning Outcomes

Students completing the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology are expected to:

  1. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of foundational and advanced concepts, theories, and empirical findings across core areas of psychology, with attention to historical and contemporary issues in the global context. 

  1. Critically evaluate the relationship between psychology and Christian worldview, integrating theological reflection with psychological science to address complex human experiences and promote holistic understanding. 

  1. Apply research and analytical skills to design, interpret, and critique psychological studies, using ethical and evidence-based approaches to contribute to scholarly and applied knowledge. 

  1. Integrate ethical reasoning and spiritual principles in professional practice to foster individual and community well-being, social responsibility, and culturally responsive care. 

  1. Demonstrate readiness for professional pathways or advanced academic study by articulating a clear vocational identity and applying psychological competencies in diverse cultural and interdisciplinary settings. 

 

Psychology BS Requirements


Specified Core Curriculum


Students earning a bachelor’s degree must complete all Core Curriculum  requirements. The following specific core curriculum course(s) is required.

Major Courses


Completion of major courses and concentration courses requires a minimum grade of C-.

Concentrations


Students may choose at least one concentration: concentrations vary in credit hours. Courses in each concentration are unique. Duplicate course credit can be applied among concentrations. Completion of concentration courses requires a minimum grade of C-.

Electives


In addition to core curriculum (40-44 credit hours) and major course requirements, students must complete elective coursework appropriate to their degree.  Elective courses may be selected from courses listed in any of the concentrations for the psychology major.  However, duplicate credit is not permitted, in that, courses completed to fulfill the 12-hour concentration requirement will not be counted as elective credit too.  

A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for most bachelor’s degrees, including elective coursework.
