Learning Outcomes
Students completing the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Criminal Justice Studies are expected to:

Knowledge of Criminal Justice Systems: Students will be able to describe the structure and functioning of the criminal justice system, including law enforcement agencies, the court system, and correctional institutions, and how these components interact within society, considering biblical principles of justice, accountability, mercy, and redemption.

Understanding of Criminal Law and Procedures: Students will be able to explain the principles of criminal law, criminal justice processes, and legal procedures, including the rights of individuals and the roles of law enforcement, courts, and correctional systems, while examining these principles through the lens of biblical teachings on justice, redemption, and the intrinsic worth of every individual.

Critical Thinking and Analysis: Students will develop the ability to analyze criminal justice issues, including the causes and consequences of crime, and evaluate policies and practices in law enforcement, the judiciary, and corrections, considering these issues within the context of a biblical worldview, which includes understanding the role of sin and human nature.

Ethical and Professional Practices: Students will justify ethical decision-making within the context of criminal justice, including issues related to fairness, justice, and respect for human rights, guided by biblical principles such as love, justice, and respect for the intrinsic worth of every individual.

Research and Communication Skills: Students will be able to conduct research in criminal justice topics, using appropriate methodologies, and effectively communicate their findings through written reports and oral presentations.

Criminal Justice Studies BS Requirements
Major Courses
Completion of major courses requires a minimum grade of C-. Concentrations
Choose at least one 15-hour concentration (a minimum of 5 courses). Courses may not be applied to multiple (or more than one) concentration. Completion of concentration courses requires a minimum grade of C-. Electives
In addition to core curriculum (40-44 credit hours) and major course requirements, students must complete elective coursework appropriate to their degree. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for most bachelor’s degrees, including elective coursework. Students are strongly encouraged to work with their advisor to identify courses that complement their program area. Choose at least one 15-hour concentration (a minimum of 5 courses).
