NURS 2353 Perspectives on Poverty and Health

3 credit hours
Designed to examine poverty and vulnerability from various frames of reference, this course will explore the phenomenon not only from a socioeconomic point of reference, but also from cultural and spiritual perspectives. The course will look at societies’ attitudes toward poverty throughout history and modern-day survey will be used to explore current views of the phenomenon. Service learning is expected as an elemental component of the course. Coursework many include health promotion, wellness, equitable treatment, criminal justice, promotion and wellness, ministry, social injustice, crisis nursing, missions, social work, and other timely issues  may contribute to service learning experiences.
