Mission Statement

Southern Wesleyan University School of Education’s mission is to prepare educators who are established in the Christian faith, dedicated to their calling, and committed to the pursuit of truth and service. Through rigorous academics, ethical leadership, and spiritual formation, we equip future professionals to fulfill their duty to inspire, educate, and serve students and families with integrity, compassion, and respect.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to be a leading School of Education known for forming professionals who lead with faith, honor their mission, and seek truth in all aspects of learning, teaching, and serving. We aspire to develop graduates who desire to fulfill the Great Commission by teaching and serving with conviction, impacting their communities, and fostering care for students and families.

Seven Pillars of Purpose

  • Integrating Faith and Educational Practice

Graduates will demonstrate the ability to integrate Christian faith and values into their professional practices, showing how faith can guide ethical decision-making and classroom leadership.

  • Understanding and Articulating Mission in Education

 Graduates will embody the school’s mission to prepare educators committed to transformative teaching, rooted in compassion and service to others.

  • Discovering Personal Calling in Education

Graduates will articulate their personal calling within the education and helping professions, showing an awareness of their unique gifts, and how these gifts can contribrute to their students’ holistic development.

  • Embracing Duty and Responsiblity

​Graduates will recognize their duty to Christ, family, self, and country to create supportive and equal learning environments demonstrating an ethic of care, striving to meet the needs of all students with respect and diligence.

  • Commitment to Service and Community Engagement

Graduates will demonstrate a commitment to service through active engagement in local, national, and global communities, perceiving their work as an extension of their faith, morals, and values.

  • Promoting Justice, Compassion, and Fidelity in Education

Graduates will advocate for biblical justice and demonstrate compassion in their interactions, fostering inclusive classrooms that reflect the Christian values of love, respect, fidelity, and kindness while challenging hate, prejudice, falsity, and malice.

  • Developing Lifelong Reflective Practice

​Graduates will develope a habit of reflective practice, continually seeking to mature in their faith, knowledge, and skills as educators called to fulfill the Great Commission by influencing their students’ lives for Christ.
