Pre-Pharmacy (BS)

Federal CIP: 51.1103 Pre-Pharmacy Studies.
The Pre-Pharmacy Major is designed to help students meet the pre-requisite courses for pharmacy school while preparing them for professional coursework. Pre-Pharmacy graduates may work as community pharmacists, compounding pharmacists, or industrial pharmacists following graduation from Pharmacy school.
LEARNING OUTCOMES Students completing the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pre-Pharmacy degree are expected to be able to:
- describe and support, orally and in writing, how you integrate faith and biology, along with your knowledge of current biomedical and environmental issues;
- demonstrate your theoretical and practical mastery of biology, chemistry, and associated subdisciplines;
- showcase your understanding of the scientific method (including designing and applying experiments) and the primary scientific literature;
- use critical thinking to formulate practical research questions, gather and analyze data appropriately, and interpret the results;
- recognize, produce, and solve linear and quadratic equations, slopes, and intercepts, and apply these concepts to chemical phenomena. You will be able to relate first and second derivatives to spectral interpretation and understand the meaning and use of integrals of two- and three-dimensional representations.

Pre-Pharmacy BS Requirements
Specified Core Curriculum
Students earning a bachelor’s degree must complete all Core Curriculum requirements. The following specific core curriculum courses are required.
Major Courses
Completion of major courses requires a minimum grade of C-.
Electives
In addition to Core Curriculum (40-44 credit hours) and major course requirements, students must complete elective coursework appropriate to their degree. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pre-Pharmacy, including elective coursework. Students are strongly encouraged to work with their advisor to identify courses that complement their program area.
