Specified Core Curriculum

Students earning a bachelor’s degree must complete all Core Curriculum  requirements. The following specific core curriculum course(s) is required.

Major Courses

Completion of major courses and concentration courses requires a minimum grade of C-.

• PSYC 312L Laboratory in Human Growth and Development 1 credit
• PSYC 3143 Human-Information Processing 3 credits
• PSYC 314L Laboratory in Human-Information Processing 1 credit
• PSYC 3403 Social Psychology 3 credits
• PSYC 340L Laboratory in Social Psychology 1 credit
• PSYC 380L Research Laboratory 1 credit
• RSCH 3803 Research Methods 3 credits
• SOSC 2233 Information Literacy 3 credits
• STAT 3203 Statistics 3 credits

Concentrations

Choose at least one 12-hour concentration (a minimum of 4 courses from 8 possible).  Courses may not be applied to multiple (or more than one) concentration.  Completion of concentration courses requires a minimum grade of C-.

Electives

In addition to core curriculum (40-44 credit hours) and major course requirements, students must complete elective coursework appropriate to their degree.  Elective courses may be selected from courses listed in any of the concentrations for the psychology major.  However, duplicate credit is not permitted, in that, courses completed to fulfill the 12-hour concentration requirement will not be counted as elective credit too.  

A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for most bachelor’s degrees, including elective coursework.
