Learning Outcomes
The learning outcome objectives for those obtaining the BA in Religion are that students will:
- demonstrate spiritual growth and accountability,
- demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Bible,
- demonstrate knowledge of basic theological concepts,
- be able to communicate God’s truth in order to make disciples, and
- understand human development (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual) and grow in the ability to minister in ways that are developmentally and contextually appropriate.
Ordination
Those preparing for ordination or other ministry credentialing in The Wesleyan Church should consult with their academic advisor to make sure they complete all of the academic requirements for those credentials.

Requirements for Religion, Youth and Children’s Ministry Concentration
Specified Core Curriculum
Students earning a bachelor’s degree must complete all Core Curriculum requirements. The following specific core curriculum course(s) is required.
Major Courses
Completion of major courses requires a minimum grade of C-.
Youth and Children’s Ministry Concentration Courses
Completion of major courses and concentration courses requires a minimum grade of C-.
Electives
In addition to core curriculum (40-44 credit hours) and major course requirements, students must complete elective coursework appropriate to their degree. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for most bachelor’s degrees, including elective coursework. Students are strongly encouraged to work with their advisor to identify courses that complement their program area.

Optional 3+1 Residency Program
The optional 3+1 residency program provides an opportunity for Christian ministry majors who are seeking a preparatory, three-year, academic experience and a participatory, one-year ministry residency. Students will receive three years of important traditional and foundational training in classes held at the Central campus that may include enrollment in summer semesters. In addition to completion of four online course requirements during their final year of the program, students will gain valuable residential training through immersion in a 12-credit hour ministry residency under the mentorship of experienced practitioners during their final year of the program.
