The Department of Life Science at Southern Wesleyan University strives to equip students with the skills necessary to address globally significant issues in a dynamic world. Our mission centers on providing evidence-based and applied learning experiences rooted in our Christian faith, both in academic settings and through extracurricular activities. We prepare students for successful careers in medical, rehabilitation, and veterinary fields, as well as in graduate studies, including master’s and doctoral programs.
Students in our department engage deeply with discipline-specific content, honing skills in communication, information processing, analysis, synthesis, and problem-solving. Our faculty promotes an integration of faith and learning across disciplines, encouraging students to view their studies through a Christian worldview and to apply their knowledge in service to God and humanity.
The Department of Life Science offers a BS degree with majors in Biology, Environmental Science, Exercise Science, along with pre-professional tracks in Pre-Medical Science, Pre-Dental Science, Pre-Nursing, and Pre-Pharmacy. Our graduates are academically well-prepared, uphold exemplary ethical standards, and embody their Christian faith in their professional lives.
For those planning to pursue further education, our chair and faculty advisors are readily available to provide guidance. Whether you aim to attend medical school, engage in graduate science studies, or enter specialized programs such as physical therapy, health information administration, veterinary medicine, or education, we are here to support your academic and professional aspirations.
