MUSC 2073 History of Western Music I

In-depth coverage of the history and stylistic characteristics of representative music literature, composers, and performers from Ancient Greece through the Renaissance. The student will explore musical master works through listening, analysis, and discussion. There will be an ancillary focus on research writing for music with a project in process writing. This is the first course in a comprehensive music history sequence.
