EDUC 2141 Cultivating Emotional Intelligence: Addressing Student Emotions and Behaviors 1 credit This course explores strategies and processes for assisting students with their emotional maturation. Students in the course learn how positive social skills can be taught while addressing problem behaviors and emotional outbursts. The course discusses critical character education concepts while addressing key topics such as evaluation of the k-12 student’s comprehension of their role in the process; understanding of the emotional maturity of individual k-12 students; understanding the importance of de-escalation time; and creating a positive learning experience around a typically negative situation.
